Former Indian Women’s captain Shantha Rangaswamy slams Harmanpreet Kaur over her rude behaviour in the recently concluded Bangladesh vs India 3rd ODI game at Dhaka. Kaur becomes a piece of sensation right after her speech in the post-match presentation of the series decider game.
Shantha slams Harmanpreet Kaur over her rude behaviour
Harmanpreet Kaur receives tons of backlash from all around the cricket community over her actions. Even ICC slapped Kaur with four demerits points along with a 75 per cent fine.
Harmanpreet Kaur was also suspended by ICC for the next two games following the ICC Code of Conduct breach during the final ODI against Bangladesh recently.
Earlier, former India captain Diana Edulji slammed Harmanpreet‘s actions, suggesting it was probably because of her poor form with the bat that Harmanpreet lost her coolness in the match.
Apart from former Indian cricketers, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi also criticizes Harmanpreet Kaur over her actions. Now, Shantha Rangaswamy joins the list and throws her comment over Harmanpreet Kaur’s action.
“Her behaviour was deplorable. If she had stopped after her dismissal (it would still be acceptable to some) but what she did at the presentation was not good for the game. It was rash and she went overboard,” Shantha told PTI.
Harmanpreet’s behaviour undid all the good work done by boards of both countries, feels Shantha.
“She is our best batter no doubt, but to behave like this is not acceptable. An act like that undoes good work done by the boards of respective countries. India is leading a country in the region and it needs the support of other nations”.
“Harman went there as a brand ambassador of our country and should have behaved like one,” the former India captain added.
Moreover, her rude behaviour prompted Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana to walk away with her team and urge her Indian counterpart to learn some “manners”.
