Mohammed Shami had wrapped a towel over the lower half of his body in the final moments of the first session on Day 5 of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton. It has also gone bonker in Cricket memes on Twitter.
Why Mohammed Shami Wrap Towel over him?
Something unusual happened on the field as Shami was seen draping himself in a big white towel. While the reason for the same is not known, it made for some good fun as fans enjoyed a light moment, while posting comments on Shami’s antics.
According to reports, the pacer was wearing the towel due to the chilly weather in Southampton, to keep his lower back warm. Pictures and videos of the act soon circulated on social media, with netizens making memes and jokes on it.

Commentators Dinesh Karthik, Nasser Hussain, and Simon Doull were on the air when Shami was spotted with the towel.
While Hussain called it an “interesting look” and quipped it might have been a warm towel to keep himself warm and comfortable on a cold Tuesday afternoon in Southampton, Karthik said he was not able to explain why Shami was sporting the towel.
Shami picked up the wickets of Ross Taylor, BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, and Kyle Jamieson to restrict Kiwis to a total below 250 in the first innings. The aggressive bowler went wicketless in the second innings of the WTC 2021 finals.
New Zealand lifts the inaugural WTC trophy by beating Virat Kohli led India by 8 wickets.
