Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has signed a deal with Fortune Barishal to make his maiden appearance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
Fortune Barishal boasted a set of local talent, featuring Tamim Iqbal, Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Tanvir Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Ripon Mondol, Ebadot Hossain, Nayeem Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Taijul Islam.
Afridi who was left out for the South Africa tests is set to be available for as many as five games after being granter by No-Objection Certificate (NOC) by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“Pakistani left arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will play for Fortune Barishal in the upcoming BPL,” said the franchise in a statement.
Afridi is currently playing in the three match ODI series against Pakistan and registered figures of 1/46 in the first ODI, where the side secured win with Saim Ayub’s century.
The left arm sensation Shaheen Afridi has an impressive record having picking 329 wickets across 163 international matches, which includes a tallof of 100 wickets in 75 T20Is.
Pakistan and South Africa are scheduled to play the first test on December 26, followed by the second test on january 03. If Shaheen is included in thet tests then he will be availabe for BPL after January 07.
Fortune Barishal fans will be hoping for Shaheen’s participation as his inclusion could significantly strengthen the team’s bowling attack.
The first match of the BPL schedule will be played between Fortune Barishal and Durbar Rajshahi on December 30 at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
