The Pakistan Pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi bags 100 wickets in PSL and becomes the third bowler to achieve the feat in the tournament.
Shaheen Afridi Bags 100 Wickets in PSL
The 23-year-old left-arm pacer is the fastest to reach the 100 wickets mark during the PSL 2024 season. He became the third bowler in history to take 100 or more wickets in the tournament after Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali.
He achieved the milestone by dismissing two batters during the PSL match between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
The 23-year-old left-arm pacer made his PSL debut during the 2018 season and played only for Lahore Qalandars. He took 69 matches to reach the 100-wicket mark.
Wahab Riaz who is chief selector of Pakistan’s men’s cricket team has bagged 113 wickets in 88 matches for Peshawar Zalmi and Hasan bagged 107 wickets in 79 PSL matches.
Coming to the match, Lahore Qalandars batted first and scored 162 runs whereas Rassie van der Dussen was the high scorer for 64 runs on 44 deliveries.
Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese are the other scorers for Qalandars. Rumman Raees bagged two wickets in the match.
With the target of 163 runs, Islamabad United opened their side where Faheem Ashraf scored 41 runs in the match. Other batters were sent out with low figures at regular intervals.
Zaman Khan bagged four wickets in the match while Shaheen Afridi bagged two wickets. van der Dussen stands third in the list of the Most runs with 300 runs in 6 matches.
Shadab Khan stands fourth in the list of most wickets after bagging 9 wickets in 6 matches. With this victory, Lahore Qalandars has one victory out of eight matches they played but still stands last in the points table.
Lahore Qalandars will be playing their next match of the PSL 2024 schedule against Karachi Kings on March 09 at National Stadium Karachi.
