    Shafali Verma Dropped from India Women’s Squad for Australia ODIs

    Opener Shafali Verma has been dropped from the India Women’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia while wk-batter Richa Gosh has returned to the side after missing the home ODIs against New Zealand.

    Shafali has scored only 56 runs in the three innings against New Zealand and 97 runs in four games during India’s campaign in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

    Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur has been named as the captain while Smriti Mandhana will be the deputy for the series.

    Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia are the designated wicketkeepers in the team for the Australia ODIs. The BCCI selectors has called Priya Punia, Harleen Deol, Minnu Mani and Titas Sadhu who are all included in the 16 member squad for the three ODIs.

    Leg spinner Asha Sobhna who missed New Zealand series because of injury, continues to be unavailable, while Pooja Vastrakar will be missing the ODI series.

    Meanwhile Shreyanka Patil, spin bowling all-rounder Hemalatha, uncapped seamer Sayali Satghare, wk Uma Chetry has been missing the squad.

    Middle order batter Tejal Hasabnis, legspinner Priya Mishra and seamer Saima Thakor, who made their debut against New Zealand and made a mark have retained their spots to face Australia.

    The first two ODIs will be plyed in Allan Border Field, Brisbane on December 05 and 08, while the third ODI match will be shifted to WACA Ground in Perth for the decider match, which ia a part of the ICC women’s Championship with hosts India and Australia have already qualified for next year’s World Cup.
