The Former South African pacer Shabnim Ismail has shattered the records for the fastest delivery ever in Women’s Cricket during the WPL 2024 season.

During the WPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on March 05, Shabnim Ismail breached the 130km/hr barrier while representing Mumbai Indians where she bowled at an astounding speed of 132.1 km/hr.
It was the first time in Women’s cricket to clock above the 130km/hr barrier which hit the pad of former Australia captain Meg Lanning during the second ball of the third over of the match.
Ismail appeared for South Africa in the previous eight ICC Women’s T20 World Cup editions and retired from international cricket following last year’s tournament on home soil.
She previously bowled at 128 km/hr against West Indies in 2016 and 127 km/hr twice during the most recent edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022.
When asked about the record she made during the post-match interview Ismail said she “doesn’t look at the big screen when I’m bowling.”
Coming to the match, Delhi Capitals batted first to score 192 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. Rodrigues and Lanning are the only batters to smash a half-century.
Rodrigues scored 69* runs in the match while Meg Lanning smashed 53 runs. Shabnim Ismail bagged a wicket for 46 runs. Meg Lanning currently stands second in the list of most runs in the season.
With a target of 195 runs, Mumbai Indians opened their innings but concluded by scoring 163 runs in the match losing 8 wickets. Amanjot Kaur scored 42 runs on 27 deliveries before being dismissed by Jonassen.
Jonassen bagged three wickets in the match while Marizanne Kapp bagged two wickets on the match. Jonassen was the current leading wicket-taker in the tournament. By this victory, Delhi Capitals retained their top position in the points table while Mumbai went one place down to third position.
Delhi Capitals will be playing their next match on the WPL 2024 schedule against UP Warriorz on March 08 at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
