Scorchers Resigns Amy Edgar on Two-Year Deal ahead of WBBL|10

The WBBL franchise Perth Scorchers have re-signed spin bowling all-rounder Amy Edgar on a two-year deal ahead of the WBBL 2024-25.

Edgar enjoyed a brilliant campaign with the ball in WBBL|09, becoming one of the Scorchers’ key players a team-high 20 wickets at 16.1 with an economy rate of 7.65. Her addition to the team highlights her evolution after initially arriving at the club as a specialist batter in 2018.

Edgar’s skills increased over the years with the ball and her powerful middle-order batting abilities last season, and the team will be eyeing to make it to the finals once again in WBBL|10.

On the other hand, Scorchers are yet to confirm whether Australia star Beth Mooney is set to sign a deal with the franchise.

“I’m very excited to be sticking around for the next two years. I have absolutely loved my time with the Club so far and I can’t imagine playing anywhere else.

“As a team, we’ve been really settled over the past few years, and I think that gives us a great platform to build trust within the group, which will hopefully lead to plenty of wins for us this summer.

“To be able to perform consistently last season, particularly with the ball, was really pleasing and I hope I can build on that form heading into WBBL|10.

“We were disappointed with how we finished last year but the group is really motivated to get better both individually and as a collective, and hopefully bring home another WBBL title.”

While asked about Mooney’s future last week, international pre-signing Sophie Devine asked “Be having some strong words with Beth to make sure she signs and stays put”.

“Everyone knows the class that Beth Mooney is, how many runs she’s scored, her consistency is always spoken about and I’ve loved playing alongside her,” Devine continued.

“Everyone knows we’d love to have Beth back here in Scorchers colors, but we’ll see how that unfolds,” said Sophie Devine.
