Saurashtra’s Wk-batter Sheldon Jackson has confirmed his retirement from White-ball cricket on Tuesday marking the end of an era.
Jackson has an impressive List A career with a remarkable tally of 2792 runs in 84 innings, boasting an average of 36.25. In 50 over domestic competition, he has nine centuries and 14 fifties which shows his prowess with the bat.
The 38-year-old made his mark in T20s, scoring a total of 1812 runs in 80 T20 matches including nine games he played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
His final appearance in white ball cricket comes from Vijay Hazare Trophy representing Saurashtra against Punjab, contributing a 13 runs in 10 balls.
His most successive knock comes from 2022 season, where he smashed an unbeaten 133 runs off 136 balls.
Sheldon Jackson who comes from Bhavngar in Gujarat has played junior cricket in Mumbai and was spotted by former Bengal player Mukherjee during the KKR’s selection trials.
He joined KKR in 2009 and made his debut for Saurashtra in 2011. In the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season, he scored four fifites and three centuries, including consecutive centuries in quarter finals and semi finals against Karnataka and Punjab respectively, helping Saurashtra qualify for the final for the first time.
He made his India A debut for the home series against West Indies A that year and was also part of the Saurashtra’s squad which secured Ranji Trophy title in 2015-16.
His unbeaten 59 runs in the Irani Cup same year helped Rest of India chase the third highest target in FC cricket.
Sheldon has a good record in FC cricket scoring 7187 runs in 103 matches at an average of 46.36. He has 21 centuries and 39 half centuries to his name.
