Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel Earns Central Contract

Indian cricketers Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have been handed over the BCCI central contract after their heroics during the test series on England’s tour of India 2024.

They were handed central contracts after fulfilling the criteria of playing three tests in the current season. The annual contracts for Indian players were announced last month where Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were terminated.

BCCI revealed that Sarfaraz and Jurel have been given a central contract if they meet the criteria of playing three tests against England. They have been added to Group C of BCCI’s central contract with an annual salary of INR one crore.

Sarfaraz Khan is one of the impressive players for Mumbai in the domestic circuit where he smashed three half-centuries in three matches in England, two of which came from his debut test.

He also hit a match-winning 90 in the fourth test at Ranchi, which helped the side to win the test. On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel who was compared with MS Dhoni following his efforts was adjudged as the Player of the Match.

BCCI had an Apex Council meeting on Monday where they announced the player’s contract, and also discussed about Ranji Trophy calendar for the next season.

It is confirmed that the board won’t schedule any matches in the northern part of the country during December and January due to the weather conditions as fog and bad light often disrupt the match.

According to the statement from the source, the domestic schedule for the 2024/25 season will be announced later.

“No decision has been taken yet but the Ranji Trophy, like earlier years could start from mid or end of October after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which serves as an IPL auction platform.

Some states are losing crucial points in do-or-die games because of inclement weather from mid-December to mid-February,” said a BCCI source.

There is another discussion about forming a committee that will decide whether union territory Daman & Diu gets associate membership.

A lot of ICC associate member nations like Nepal to travel India for exposure and to play practice games against some of the state sides. Nepal is set to play in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.

Nepal is supposed to train in the national capital and also planned to play a few T20 matches against Gujarat, and Baroda in a three-team tournament called Friendship Cup.

But BCCI Apex Council made it clear that affiliated states must need to get NOC from the parent body before they can host any international team.
