Sanjay Yadav is a batting all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox was born on May 10, 1995.
Sanjay Yadav moved to the Meghalaya cricket team ahead of the 2019–2020 season as a professional. He made his List A debut on 24 September 2019, for Meghalaya in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Sanjay Yadav made his first-class debut on 9 December 2019, for Meghalaya in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy. In the first innings of the match, he took nine wickets for 52 runs.
In the TNPL 2022 edition, Sanjay Yadav scored his maiden hundred against Ruby Trichy Warriors 103(55)* in the T20 format. In February 2022, Sanjay Yadav was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 auction.
During the TNPL 2024 Auction, Trichy Grand Cholas brought Sanjay Yadav for INR 22 Lakh. In 33 T20 matches, Sanjay Yadav played 33 matches and scored 533 runs at a strike rate of 119.23 and also bagged 19 wickets.

During the Auction, each franchise must build a squad comprising a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 20 with an allocated budget of INR 70 lakh.
The eligible players from the TNPL 2024 Auction registered list will be grouped into 4 categories based on their career record. The base price will vary based on the category.
The categories of players and reserve price are
- Category A – International players who have represented the Senior Indian team – 3 Lakhs
- Category B – Rs. 2.00 Lakhs – Players who have played in the First Class matches conducted by BCCI (Multi-day/ OneDay/ T20 format)
- Category C – Rs. 1.00 Lakh – Players who have not played for Senior Domestic tournaments conducted by BCCI but have played more than 35 matches in TNPL
- Category D – Other Players – Rs. 0.50 Lakhs
