“Bowler Without a Weakness” Sanjay Manjrekar Reserves Praise for Jasprit Bumrah during First Bangladesh Test

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar heaped praise for Indian Jasprit Bumrah after he picked a four-wicket haul for 50 runs during the first innings of the first test against Bangladesh.

The 30-year-old pacer opened India’s pace attack and got rid of Shadman Islam in his first over. He dismissed the opener for 2 runs and also picked the wickets of Mushifiqur Rahim, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin Ahmed as well.

He also bagged his 400th international wicket during the first innings of the match. While speaking in an interview Sanjay Manjrekar applauded Bumrah for his stunning performance during the test match against Bangladesh.

“We all know about his variations, his thinking—one of the sharpest thinking fast bowlers. We saw a certain amount of meanness as well in the way he bowled to Taskin.”

“But the one thing that came through today was that he is a bowler without a weakness—whatever the opposition or pitch conditions, and that’s actually the best way to judge greatness. Indian cricket is so fortunate to have him in their side,” said Manjrekar.

He also posted a tweet praising Bumrah by the end of Day 02 saying “Is there anything more left to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler? Well I realised today that he is a bowler with just strengths, zero weakness. Guess, that’s the ultimate yardstick for greatness.”

By the end of day 01, India scored 339 runs losing six wickets. Resuming the match on the next day India scored 376 runs in their first innings with Ashwin smashing his stunning sixth test century. Bangladesh hoped for a solid start but, Bumrah along with Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja tore up the batting lineup for 149 runs.

India started their second innings, as they struggled in the start with losing three wickets for 67 runs, but soon the hosts took the innings to their hands, as Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant forged a partnership to help the side to cross 200 run mark. Rishabh Pant even scored a century on Day 03 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
