“He Is Not Ready To Speak Up”, Salman Butt Backs Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam received tons of criticism from fans and many current and former cricketers after the team failed to register a single victory in the Test format on its home ground last year.

Sarfaraz Ahmed made his comeback in the Test format via the recently concluded New Zealand Test series by scoring a century in the 2nd inning of the second Test. Sarfaraz’s century doesn’t help Pakistan to win the match. Notably, both matches were drawn at the end.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt backed Babar Azam who receives lots of pressure and criticism over his captaincy and says “he is not ready to speak up”

“I think he (Babar) is a bit shy. He is not ready to speak up. Otherwise, this is not a million-dollar question which cannot be answered. Sarfaraz made an excellent comeback and everyone praised him.

But, his performances in domestic circuit over the past four seasons weren’t that great. But, he made an exceptional comeback. He has got experience, hunger and he got that chance and performed,” Butt said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

Many cricket experts believe that Sarfaraz Ahmed’s consistent performance in New Zealand’s two-match Test series has pushed Mohammad Rizwan behind in the pecking order, as far as the Test team is concerned.

“But when he was out of the team, Rizwan was exceptional. He scored the most number of runs in T20Is in the last two years and was the number-one batter for a while. In terms of keeping, Rizwan is miles ahead of any Pakistan keeper, including Sarfaraz,” he added.

Sarfaraz scored 86 and 53 in 1st Test while he scored 78 and 118 runs in the second Test. Currently, Pakistan were scheduled to play 3 ODI matches against New Zealand as a part of the New Zealand tour of Pakistan 2023. Both teams have won each match and will play the decider match on January 13 at National Stadium, Karachi.
