Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took Instagram to show his gratitude towards the record maker Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese footballer hits the media after he surpassed Legendary Pele’s record of scoring 767 goals.
Ronaldo had overtaken Pele on Sunday after scoring a hat-trick against Cagliari in the Serie A to reach 770 career goals across all competitions. Pele had 767 goals to his name. Following the achievement, Ronaldo also released a statement on Instagram stating the official record and his admiration for Pele.

Earlier, Pele had taken to Instagram to congratulate the Portuguese for going past him in the record books. Pele said in his post that he admires Cristiano a lot and he regrets not being able to hug him at this moment.

Ronaldo also replied to Pele and sent his regards.
“My friend Pelé, thank you very much for your words, your affection and your friendship. You know that feeling is mutual. We keep this hug for when we can be together again and hopefully it will be soon! All the best and lots of health,” Cristiano replied.

‘Game recognises game’ is a phrase used by many sports lovers and Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar lauded one of football’s greatest in Brazil’s Pele for doing the same.
“This is what sport is all about. Lovely to see this warm gesture from @pele, one of the greatest in the game. To recognise talent & celebrate @cristianoâs achievements, is a trait that is the hallmark of a true sportsman. Much respect and love for both of these geniuses of the world!,” Tendulkar wrote in his Instagram post.

The 36-year-old is now third in the list of most goals scored behind Brazil’s Romario (772) and Austria’s Josef Bican (805+). Ronaldo’s goals have come for Real Madrid (450), Manchester United (118), Juventus (95), and Sporting Lisbon (5) in the club level.
For the Portugal national team, he has scored 102 goals in 170 matches – which is the second-most ever in international football. Only Iran’s Ali Daei has more goals to his name with 109 from 149 games.
