Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has become an honorary member of Melbourne Cricket Club. The development comes after the former Indian cricketer accepted an invitation to become a member of the institution.
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is one of the oldest sports clubs in Australia and is responsible for managing and developing the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is one of the premium venues for cricket.
Tendulkar was awarded the Order of Australia, one of the country’s highest honours in 2012.

“An icon honoured. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game,” the MCC posted.
Sachin Tendulkar hold the record of most runs at MCG with 449 runs from five tests with an average of 44.90 with a hundred and three fifties in 5 tests and 7 ODIs.
Tendulkar has played a total 0f 200 tests, 463 ODIs and a T20I for India during his 24 year old career and is the all time leading run scorer in international cricket. He also has the record of most runs in Tests and ODIs.
Meanwhile, MCG is currently hosting fourth test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India where both sides evenly poised with 1-1.
