With Speculations rised on the potential retainers for the Chennai-based franchise, a top five Rumoured CSK retention in IPL 2025 has been revealed, stirring interest among the IPL fans.
Despite BCCI not announcing the IPL 2025 Mega Auction Rules, the five-time champions have planned to retain some key players ahead of the auction.
On this occasion, several reports suggest that CSK is planning to retain Thala MS Dhoni along with Captain Ruturaj Gaiwad, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, and Shivam Dubey, and Sri Lankan bowler Matheesha Pathirana.
However, this will be possible if RTM retention is enabled like in the previous mega auctions.
To the surprise, players like Deepak Chahar, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and Maheesh Theekshana did not make this list. Other reports suggest that the salary cap of MS Dhoni will be less than the other four players on the list.
BCCI has not finalized the retention policy for the second mega action in three years. If they bring in the old retention rules which allow players who retired from international cricket before five years to be retained as uncapped players, MS Dhoni will be cut in as an Uncapped player which could benefit CSK.
The Wk-batter handed the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season. The 2023 champions failed to qualify for the playoffs in the previous season, but Dhoni delivered an impactful innings while playing in the lower order.
If MS is likely to play in the IPL 2025, it will be a valuable contribution to the franchise.
