The Bowler Rosemary Mair has been ruled out of the ODI Series on the England Women’s tour of New Zealand 2024 due to a back injury.
Rosemary Mair Ruled Out of England ODI Series
New Zealand bowler Rosemary Mair will be missing the third match of the ODI series on a home tour after sustaining a back injury while training ahead of the first ODI and was forced to miss that game.
She traveled with the team for the second ODI but could not train on Wednesday, making team management rest her for the rest of the ODI series. Molly Penfold has been brought in as a replacement for the remaining series.
“We’re all gutted for Rosemary as she has been a key member of the squad throughout the series against England.” head coach Ben Sawyer said.
“We have a big winter of cricket ahead with tours to England and Australia before the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, so we want to be cautious and give Rosemary ample time to recover and be ready to go again when we depart for England.”
Rosemary Mair returned to the national side and featured in the T20I series against England picking up four wickets at an economy rate of 7.56.
New Zealand will have a major setback with the absence of Mair in the third ODI as England leads 2-0 in the ODI series and also had a 4-1 win in the five-match T20I series.
During the second ODI Tammy Beaumont scored a brilliant 81-run knock for which she was awarded the Player of the Match for guiding to visitors towards victory.
Nat Sciver picked up three wickets to bundle out New Zealand for 196 runs with five overs remaining. New Zealand Women and English women will be playing their 3rd ODI match on April 07 at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand.
