According to a report, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are likely to take part in the Duleep Trophy squads which will be picked by the selection committee by BCCI.
Ahead of the Bangladesh Tests, the BCCI committee wants all the players to be part of the Duleep Trophy this season which starts on September 05. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav has also been asked to play in the Duleep Trophy.
However, Jasprit Bumrah won’t be playing in the tournament as he has been given a long rest period. The selectors are set to discuss including the ace pacer in the two-match test against Bangladesh as a part of India’s home season 2024-25 with 10 tests including five against Australia.
With the pitches for the two tests being spin-friendly and Mohammed Shami set to return for Bangladesh tests, Bumrah might be rested for the series. With the Zonal format for the Duleep Trophy completed, Ajit Agarkar’s selection panel will pick four squads namely India A, India B, India C, and India D set to feature in the tournament.
The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to be played in Andhra Pradesh. With the venue not having air transport, BCCI will be planning to organize one round at the M.C Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Duleep Trophy will begin on September 05 and end on September 23. Meanwhile, the two-match test series will begin on September 19 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium.
