Indian cricket team who holds the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I team rankings has made a massive comeback by winning the T20I home series against Australia after missing the finals in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 tournament.
Rohit Takes Murali Karthik By Surprise
In the three-match T20I series, Australia won the first match by 4 wickets while India won the second match by 6 wickets where the match has been reduced to 8 overs due to wet outfield.
The final and series decider match has been scheduled to play on September 25 in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Batting first Australia scored 186 runs for 7 wickets loss at the end of the 1st innings. Indian opening batter KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma failed to score big and walked to the pavilion for 1 and 17 runs respectively.
Virat Kohli who batted at 3 builds a much-needed partnership with Suryakumar Yadav and scored 104 runs for the third wicket.
While India were in need of 11 runs off the final over Virat Kohli loses his wicket after hitting a six off the first delivery. With 4 required off the final two balls, Hardik Pandya smashed a boundary off the fifth delivery and leads India to seal the series against ICC T20 World Cup 2021 winning team.
After the match, during the presentation, skipper Rohit took former India spinner Murali Kartik, also part of the commentary panel for the official broadcasters, by surprise.
As Rohit walked up to him ahead of collecting the trophy, Kartik asked the India skipper: “It’s been brilliant. You have played here (Hyderabad) before.”
“I can’t hear you Murali bhai. I can’t hear you,” came Rohit’s reply with a smile on his face
“You seriously can’t hear me or you are just kidding?” asked Kartik. The two then went on to have a good chat.

Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, India will face South Africa to play 3 matches T20I series and as many as ODI matches. The T20I series against South Africa will be extremely crucial for the Indian cricket team to boost their confidence for the upcoming tournament.
