    Rohit-Shubman has joined the list of highest opening partnerships for India in Asia Cup with 147* in the match against Nepal on Monday.

    With Pakistan qualified for the Super Four, India is scheduled to play the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal on September 4, 2023, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

    The Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India where they had a partnership of 147* runs and joined the list of highest opening partnerships for India in the Asia Cup ODI format. The 214 partnership runs by Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan against Pakistan in the 2018 edition tops the list and Sachin Tendulkar-Manoj Prabhakar’s partnership score of 161 against Sri Lanka in 1995 remains second. With the Rohit-Shubman partnership in third place, Sehwag-Gambhir’s 127 partnership score is in fourth place.

    Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh opened for Nepal while Mohammad Shami opened the bowling attack. Kushal Bhurtel had scored 38 runs and was sent out by Thakur. Aasif Sheikh had scored 58 runs on 97 deliveries and was sent out by Mohammad Siraj. With the dismissal of Bhim Sharki, Rohit Paudel, and Kushal Malla by Ravindra Jadeja with low figures, Nepal was down to 132 for 5 wickets.

    Gulsan Jha and Dipendra Singh scored 23 and 29 runs respectively. Sompal Kami had scored 48 runs and was sent out by Shami. Sira and Jadeja were impressive as they scalped three wickets each. By the end, Nepal had scored 230 runs losing all 10 wickets on 48.2 overs.

Shubman Gill Scored 67 runs including 8 boundaries and one six. By the end, India won the match by scoring 147 runs with no loss of wickets in the first ball of the 21st over.

    With the victory, India has qualified for the Super Four. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be facing each other in the 6th Asia Cup match 2023 on September 5, at Gaddafi Stadium.
