Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Arrives in Sri Lanka for ODI Series

India skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli have arrived in Sri Lanka, Colombo, and started their training for the upcoming ODI leg starting on August 02.

With the India squad led by Suryakumar Yadav gearing up for the third T20I in Pallekele on Tuesday, players including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and debutant Harshit Rana are set to train in Colombo after arriving on Sunday.

Kuldeep Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Kohli will be returning to action one month after India’s T20 World Cup triumph in the USA and West Indies. According to sources, ODI players will participate in a net session at the stadium on Monday.

The Indian team management has assigned Abhishek Nayar to oversee the training session. Nayar left for Colombo on Monday morning after the second T20I.

Indian team has already won the T20I series 2-0 and is set to play their third T20I match on July 30. The ODI series is set to start on August 02 and all the games will be played in R. Premadasa Stadium.

Meanwhile, Morne Morkel is expected to join India’s coaching setup as a bowling coach. His work with the Indian team will begin with a home series against Bangladesh in September.

Gambhir has stated that the team management will be evaluating the coaching setup during the six-match series in Sri Lanka, to plan the permanent coaching staff for future series. It also remains uncertain where Sairaj Bahutule will be joining in spin bowling and currently with the team as interim bowling coach.

If Bahutule holds on to his position, the team would include two assistant coaches (Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate), a bowling coach (Morne Morkel), a fielding coach (T Dilip), and a spin bowling coach along with Gautam Gambhir.
