According to Reports, Rohit Sharma is expected to return to his opening slot for the fourth test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy with the Indian team gearing up for an electrifying clash at Melbourne.
With Australia announcing their playing 11 a day before the test, India’s lineup remains under wraps. Meanwhile, some reports suggested that Rohit Sharma will be return to his opener role, triggering the adjustments for players.
In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul opened along with Jaiswal in the Perth test where he scored a half century while Jaiswal impressed with a century.
After he returned, Rohit batted in the middle order to accomodate Rahul in the top order but struggled, with highest score being just 10 runs across three innings.
Rohit is reportedly set to open along Jaiswal in AUS vs IND 4th test in Melbourne, pushing Rahul to bat at No.3 which raises questions on Shubman Gill‘s spot in lineup.
Meanwhile, AUstralia has announced their playing 11 with two changes bringing in Sam Konstas and Scott Boland to replace Nathan McSweeney and Injured Hazlewood respectively.
With AUS-IND five match series levelled with 1-1 and third test in Brisbane ended in a draw, the focus has been shifted to fourth test in Melbourne.
The upcoming test hold certain importance to decide India’s chances for qualifying to WTC finals. Currently, Australia holds 2nd position while India secured third position in the WTC points table.
The fourth test of the BGT 2024-25 series will begin on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
