Delhi Cricket Board chief Rohan Jaitley is likely to become the new BCCI secretary and will be replacing outgoing Jay Shah who will be taking over the ICC chairman role on December 01.
Shah has been unanimously elected as the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in August and will be taking over on December 01.
Rohan Jaitley who is the current president of the Delhi Cricket Association, and Anil Patel, the secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association will compete for the posts. Shah has been the secretary of the BCCI since 2019, after entering the cricket administration through the Gujarat Cricket Association in 2009.
Shah has been instrumental in the BCCI’s functioning, notably during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Rohan Jaitley’s journey in cricket administration began about four years ago when he was elected as the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, a position his father held for 14 years.
He was re-elected unopposed for a second term, underscoring his acceptance and effectiveness in the role.
Under his leadership, the DDCA has seen several reforms and improvements. Jaitley has been successful in hosting five ODI World Cup matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and initiated the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League, which has featured notable cricketers like Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma.
Roger Binny is set to continue as the president of the BCCI and oversee the operation of the board while working closely with the newly elected secretary.
