Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa praises Yashasvi Jaiswal following his impressive maiden IPL TON in the match against Mumbai Indians yesterday.
Robin Uthappa Praises Yashasvi Jaiswal
As per IPL 2023 schedule, the 42nd league game of the season is scheduled to play between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals on April 30 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Winning the toss, RR opted to bat first where Jaiswal and Buttler opened the innings. Jaiswal made an aggressive strike since the start of the game. Apart from Jaiswal, none of the batters made an impact in their batting line. Notably, none of the players apart from the “Century man” scored runs more than 20.
Single-handedly, Jaiswal led the team towards a glorious 212 runs at the end of the 1st innings. During the process, Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his maiden IPL century and ended the inning with a score of 124.
Jaiswal starts to receive praise from all around the cricket world over his aggressive IPL century.
Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa praised the young opener for his knock on JioCinema, “He’s one of the next superstars of Indian cricket. He has shown his intent from the word go. Fearless batting and going out there, very brave with the way he approaches it. He’s put in all the work this season and the hard work is finally paying off. Sixteen fours tonight and some scintillating sixes.”
Parthiv Patel Compliments Tim David
Though RR managed to score 200+ runs, Mumbai managed to chase the target with 3 balls remaining. Though Mumbai’s top-order batters scored a handful of runs, they were in need of 17 runs in the final over. Tim David strikes hattrick sixes in the first three balls of the final over and led the team to register the 4th victory of the season.
Former India wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel complimented David’s ability as a finisher and the importance of the role in T20 cricket on JioCinema, “He can perform under pressure and help them win matches. The role of a finisher is extremely important, especially when you are chasing a massive total.
You need a big innings in the lower order with a strong strike rate and Tim David is doing that. Under pressure, a bowler knows that Tim David has the reach and strength to punish you for any mistakes. He can hit a boundary or a six, as we saw today.”
Even though MI can celebrate a win that helped to keep them in the playoff race, Uthappa is worried about the massive cracks in their bowling, “This game will make it feel like all’s well with the Mumbai Indians, but it really isn’t.
They really need to figure out their bowling and how they finish overs because they’re doing fairly decent until the 15th over, especially in the last three games, they were on course to defend 170, and 180, and then in the last five over something happens and they kind of lose the plot. Then they give 60, 70, 80, 90 runs in the last five overs, which is diabolical for them.”
Mumbai Indians currently hold the 7th spot in the IPL 2023 points table with 8 points and will play their next game against Punjab Kings on May 3 in Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.
