Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 18 runs in his comeback match in IPL
Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as their captain for the IPL 2024 season who missed the entire IPL 2023 season after facing a near-fatal car crash in December 2022.
As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Delhi Capitals were scheduled to face Punjab Kings on March 23 in Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
Notably, both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are still waiting to lift their maiden IPL trophy. PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan is perhaps on his last legs as a professional cricketer while Delhi Capitals captain Pant starting a fresh leg of his career after a career-threatening accident.
Both Delhi-based players have fought different personal battles to be here leading their respective teams at one of the World’s largest spectacles.
Winning the toss, the Punjab Kings captain decided to field first while Rishabh also stated that they would have also batted first if they won the toss.
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings for Delhi Capitals and scored 39 runs for the first wicket. Arshdeep Singh bagged the first wicket by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 20 runs.
Following his dismissal, Warner and Hope made a 35-run stand where Harshal Patel broke the partnership by dismissing Warner for 29 runs. Following his dismissal, Rishabh Pant made his entrance onto the pitch but managed to score only 18 runs.

In the 4th delivery of the 13th over bowled by Harshal Patel, Rishabh Pant picked a wrong shot which ended up dabbing a dolly into the hands of Bairstow at backward point.
As of now, Delhi Capitals scored 124 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of 15 overs. Delhi Capitals needs to find a way of getting past the 175 runs mark with just 5 overs left otherwise it will be very difficult for them to contain Punjab’s batting lineup.
