    Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill Surges in ICC Men’s Test Rankings

    Indian Players Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin have made a move forward in the ICC Men’s Test rankings in the batters category after smashing centuries in the first match of the Bangladesh tour of India 2024 which is the part of ICC WTC championship series.

    Pant has re-entered the ranking in sixth position after smashing 109 runs in the second innings, Shubman Gill moved up from fifth to a career-best 14th position after smashing 119* in the second innings while Ravichandran Ashwin’s crucial sixth test century in the first innings lifted him seven places to 72nd position.

    Ashwin and Jadeja’s 199 partnership runs in the first innings helped to build a base for India’s 280-run victory in the first test.

    Jadeja’s 86 runs helped him move up three places to 37th position in the batting rankings, Ashwin has retained his position at the top of the bowling rankings by gaining one rating point after his six-wicket haul and Jadeja has moved up one spot to sixth position after finishing with five wickets in the match.

    They have also gained ranking points in the rankings for all-rounders. Jadeja has secured a career-best 475 points while Ashwin added up 48 points to move forward to 370.

    Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has moved to the top five for the first time after notching a half-century in the first innings and fast bowler Akash Deep moves 10 places to 88th place after grabbing two wickets.

    On the other hand, Bangladesh captain Najmul Shanto’s 82 score in the second innings against India has helped him progress 14 places to 48th position. Hasan Mahmud’s five-wicket haul in the first inning has moved forward 44th among bowlers.

    Shakib Al Hasan moved to 43rd position among batters and Taskin Ahmed moved 8 places forward to secure 66th position in bowler rankings.

    Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya has reached a career-best eighth position after a nine-wicket haul which earned him the player of the Match during the first test against New Zealand.

    Kamindu Mendis has moved three places to 16th place after the first innings century while Kusal Mendis secured 51st rank and Ramesh Mendis secured 29th bowlers in the ICC rankings.

    New Zealand’s Tom Latham has gained two places to the 33rd position after scoring 70 runs in the first innings while Rachin Ravindra moved up 18 places to 42nd place to score 92 runs in the second innings.

    Ajaz Patel has progressed to 25th place after taking eight wickets in the match while William O’Rourke has moved to 41st place.

    Sri Lanka has moved forward in the ICC WTC points table and secured third position behind table toppers India and Australia.

    Rahmanullah Gurbaz has advanced to eighth position, becoming the first from Afghanistan to reach the top 10 in the ODI batting rankings.

    His 194 runs against South Africa have taken him to 692 rating points, the equal highest by an Afghanistan batter along with Ibrahim Zadran.

    Azmatullah Omarzai and leg spinner Rashid Khan moved to 35th and 8th place in bowler rankings which are the big gains for Afghanistan while Temba Bavuma moved four places forward in 25th place.

    Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi has gained 20th place in the ICC test bowler rankings. Australia’s batter has smashed an unbeaten 154 runs against England in Nottingham, and leg spinner Adam Zampa is in the second position.
