Rishabh Pant Fined INR 24 Lakhs for 2nd Over-Rate Offence
Rishabh Pant has been fined INR 24 lakhs for maintaining a slow over rate for the second time in the ongoing IPL tournament. Pant wasn’t the only one fined as the rest of the playing 11 were given penalties for the offence during the match where they suffered their third defeat of the campaign.
Kolkata Knight Riders set up a target of 272 runs for Delhi Capitals Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Andre Russel were the run-scorers for the side.
Pant has been impressive during the match along with Tristan Stubbs where they scored 55 and 54 runs on 25 and 32 deliveries respectively helping the side to post 166 runs and their side lost the match by 106 runs.
“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3,” said BCCI in an official release.
“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” read the statement.
Delhi Capitals has won only one match out of four matches they played in the IPL campaign.
With this defeat, Delhi Capitals have moved to the 9th position of the IPL 2024 point table. As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Delhi Capitals will be playing their next match against Mumbai Capitals on April 07 at Wankhede Stadium.
