Rinku Singh Ruled Out For 2nd and 3rd T20Is due to Injury

The batter Rinku Singh has been ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd T20I of the England tour of India 2025 after suffering a lower back spams he sustained during the first match in Kolkata.

He sustained an injury while fielding in the series opener. Rinku Singh did not come to bat in the first T20I where the side secured a seven-wicket victory and will be missing the next two matches for the hosts.

BCCI said that Rinku Singh is progressing well in his recovery and is being monitored closely by the medical team.

Ramandeep Singh and Shivam Dube have been added to the Indian squad after an injury crisis hit the hosts ahead of the 2nd T20I.

“Rinku Singh sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the 1st T201 against England on 22nd January.”

“He is progressing well and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He is ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T20I series,” read the statement from BCCI.

Rinku’s injury could serve a major blow for India, who is missing the services of Nitish Reddy for the remaining series. The all-rounder sustained a side strain and has been replaced by Shivam Dube for the remainder of the series.

India is aslo concerned on Abhishek Sharma’s fitness who twisted his ankle during practice on January 24. However, it is greatly anticipated that Mohammed Shami to return for action during second T20Is.

Mohammed Shami has bandaged his both legs, began with half-run up and worked up reasonable pace as well.

After bowling a few deliveries, Shami went back full distance but reowned smoothness in his appraoch and release was lacking. He also hit the stumps few time as bowling coach Morne Morkel.

The 34 year old also bowled a couple of deliveries to all-rounder Nitish Reddy who returned to the main ground along with Hardik pandya, before going back to follow fielding and catching drills.

India had a seven wicket win in first T20I with the second match to be played on January 25 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
