    Rile Rossouw smashes his first fifty of IPL 2024 season during PBKS vs RCB Clash

    Punjab Kings batter Rile Rossouw hits his first half-century of the IPL 2024 season in the pursuit of helping the side chase the target of 242 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 09 at Dharamsala.

    With this fifty, Rossouw has 50 half-centuries in the t20 format and becomes the fourth Proteas batter to achieve the feat. Rile Rossouw has played 6 matches in the ongoing tournament so far and amassed 140 runs with a strike rate of 177.23.

    Coming to the match, Punjab Kings won the toss and chose to bowl. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the innings where Vidwath missed the wicket of Virat Kohli twice in the match. But he could dismiss du Plessis for 9 runs in the 3rd over of the match.

    In the second delivery of the over, Faf du Plessis was sent out on a lengthy delivery where he tried to take a shot deep into straight but Shashank Singh caught the ball with ease helping the debutant to pick his first IPL wicket.

    After du Plessis dismissal, Will Jacks came to bat scored 12 runs, and was sent back to the dugout by Vidwath Kaverappa. He was sent out on a slower ball where the batter attempted for a sweep shot but failed to get it past short fine.

    Harshal Patel who was in the field attempted a dive to his left and caught the ball dismissing the dangerous batter. RCB lost two wickets in 5 overs scoring only 43 runs.

    Kohli and Rajat Patidar joined hands to score a 76-run partnership for the third wicket. Rajat Patidar smashed 55 runs on 23 deliveries before being dismissed by Sam Curran in the last ball of the 10th over.

    With Cameron Green came to bat, Rain interrupted and stopped the match for some time at HPCA stadium. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has smashed his 55th IPL half-century and went past fifty in the pursuit of smashing a hundred.

    By the end of the 17th over, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green’s partnership helped the side to score 200 runs. After Virat Kohli’s dismissal for 92 runs by Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran picked up the wickets of Cameron Green and Dinesh Karthik for 46 and 18 runs respectively.

    Finally, Bengaluru lost seven wickets to score 241 runs in 20 overs. After failing to contain RCB for low scores, Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow opened the innings for Punjab where the former was sent back to the dugout on a lbw from Swapnil Singh’s delivery in the first over.

    Rile Rossouw came to bat and joined hands with Jonny Bairstow for a 65-run partnership for the second wicket. Lockie Ferguson bagged the wicket of Jonny Bairstow for 27 runs.

    With the dismissal of Rile Rossouw for 61 runs by Karn Sharma, Punjab scored 107 runs by the end of the 9th over for three wickets. Shashank Singh was sent out on a run out by Virat Kohli for 37 runs while Sam Curran scored 22 runs before being dismissed on a lbw by Mohammed Siraj. By the end of 16th over, Punjab was down to the last two wickets with 174 runs.

    Harshal Patel was sent out on a golden duck while Arshdeep Singh was dismissed for four runs. Finally, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the match by 60 runs difference as Punjab Kings lost all 10 wickets for scoring 181 runs by the end of the 17th over.
