“Really excited”, Jemimah Rodrigues shares excitement ahead of maiden WCPL stint

Indian star batter Jemimah Rodrigues expressed her excitement to play her first-ever Women’s Caribbean Premier League season this year. Jemimah was roped in by the Trinbago Knight Riders Women for the WCPL 2024 season set to kick start on August 21.

As per the WCPL 2024 schedule, Trinbago Knight Riders Women will play their first game of the season against Barbados Royals Women on August 22 in Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.

Jemimah Rodrigues will be the second Indian Woman to feature in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League after Shreyanka Patil who represented the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in the 2023 edition of the tournament.

Interestingly, Shreyanka Patil and Jemimah Rodrigues both will represent Trinbago Knight Riders Women in the WCPL 2024 season. Notably, former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami was appointed as Trinbago Knight Riders’ Mentor for this season.

With few days for the tournament, Jemimah posted a selfie along with her Indian colleagues at the WCPL as her Instagram story and captioned it “Agla (next) Station: West Indies. See you soon TKR.”

“This is the first time I’ll be coming to the WCPL. I’ve played for India in the Caribbean quite a bit, but I’m really excited that I’ll be representing the Knight Riders in the WCPL. We all know the legacy that they have across the globe,” Jemimah was quoted as saying by the IE.

Trinbago Knight Riders Women Squad: Deandra Dottin, Chedean Nation, Kycia Knight, Shamilia Connell, Kyshona Knight, Jahzara Claxton, Zaida James, Jannillea Glasgow, Anisa Mohammed, Shunelle Shaw, Samara Ramnath, Meg Lanning, Jess Jonassen, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey.

WCPL 2024 will follow a double round-robin and final format. All three teams will play each other side twice, therefore playing four matches apiece. The top two teams of the WCPL 2024 points table will advance to the final.

All 2024 Women’s Caribbean Premier League matches will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in San Fernando, Trinidad.
