RCB Probable Retained Players Ahead of IPL 2025

RCB Probable Retained Players: With the deadline for the announcement of the retained players list of IPL 2025 nearing, all franchises including RCB are looking to form the best possible retention lineup before October 31, 2024.

The IPL governing council has announced the retention rules for the IPL 2025 mega auction according to which a team/franchise can have a total of six retentions with a maximum of 5 capped players and 2 uncapped players.

BCCI has set various retention slabs for the player’s retention. The first retention must be INR 18 crore, the second INR 14 crore, the third INR 11 crore, the fourth INR 18 crore, the fifth INR 14 crore and the uncapped Rs 4 crore but franchises are also allowed to divide the 75cr retention amount among 5 capped players.

Despite having featured high-profile players like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Ross Taylor, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers, RCB failed to achieve ultimate glory in the 17 seasons.

Although they were close to winning the title by reaching the finals in 2009 and 2016 but could not cross the line in the final moments. Considering all these factors, let’s have a look at RCB probable retained players list for season 18.

    • Virat Kohli
    • Mohammad Siraj
    • Faf Du Plessis
    • Glenn Maxwell
    • Rajat Patidar
    • Yash Dayal (Uncapped player).

The first possible retention for RCB is none other than former RCB and Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The Indian star batter Kohli started his IPL career in 2008 and has been with them ever since. If RCB decides to let go of the star batter, it would be a shocking history of IPL, there is no other spot for him than number one for INR 18 crore.

The Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be one of the priority picks for the RCB ahead of IPL 2025. His ability to change the game with bat and ball and his exceptional fielding skills only add to his reputation.

The Indian rising star Mohammed Siraj is in cricket at the moment. His ability to take wickets in all three phases of the game makes him a key player for any team. Since RCB already have the player, they would rather retain him straight away.

The former South African international Faf du Plessis has been one of the consistent batters for the team. In addition, he is also the skipper for the team and releasing him would mean RCB looking for a new replacement captain, which means RCB will retain him at the number four spot for INR 18 crore.

Among uncapped players, Yash Dayal stands out to be a likely Retention. His contributions with the ball have shown promise, and he could add depth to RCB’s bowling attack. Dayal has been impressive in the last season with 15 wickets in 14 games.

Investing in Yash Dayal aligns with RCB’s approach of nurturing young talent while allowing the management more flexibility in purse allocation.

Dinesh Karthik has been missed from the retention list as he joined the RCB as batting coach after the completion of IPL 2024. Though this year’s auction was planned to be hosted outside India, fans can still enjoy the IPL 2025 auction live streaming from their home.

With BCCI announcing October 31 as the deadline for franchises to announce their retained players list, it will be interesting which players will be coming into the auction pool.
