Ravindra Jadeja made this shocking announcement through his official Instagram handle with a picture of him holding the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. Though Indian cricket fans were left in joy with the World Cup triumph, back-to-back retirement announcements slightly made them worry.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support.” Jadeja stated in his Instagram post.

He was an integral part of six T20 World Cup campaigns, tasting success in his final one as India returned with the men’s T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years.

Jadeja, who made his T20I debut in 2009, represented India in 74 T20Is, taking 54 wickets and scoring 515 runs. Jadeja played his first T20I match back in 2009 in a match against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium. One of the finest fielder of the current Indian cricket team – Ravindra Jadeja will continue to play the ODI and Test format.

Though he retired from the T20I format, Jadeja was expected to feature in domestic T20 games, particularly in the Indian Premier League. With a mega auction planned around the end of this year, Jadeja’s T20I retirement is expected to have no impact on his tie with CSK.
