The ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 has shattered several records from the opening day. The Group game between Hyderabad and Arunachal Pradesh at the NexGen Cricket Ground, Hyderabad on January 26.
Tanmay Agarwal smashed fastest FC Triple-Ton
Out of those who created records in the tournament, the 28-year-old Tanmay Agarwal, the left-handed opener smashed the fastest triple century in first class to put his side in a dominant position after the visitors were folded out for 172 in the 40th over.
The 701 runs scored by Hyderabad and Arunachal Pradesh are the second-most in a single day in FC cricket.
Hyderabad batter Tanmay Agarwal scored an unbeaten 323 off just 160 deliveries. As a result, the hosts smashed 529 runs in 48 overs with a run rate of 11.02.
He took only 147 balls to complete his triple-century. He broke the record held by Marco Marais who scored triple century on 191 deliveries against Eastern Province in 2017.
Tanmay scored his triple century after batting 183 minutes, making its second-quickest by the time taken after Denis Compton’s triple ton in 181 minutes for MCC against North Eastern Transvaal in 1948.
He scored his double-century in 119 balls. He smashed 26 sixes and his 366 Tanmay’s score against Arunachal is the joint fourth-highest individual in the Ranji Trophy.
It is also the joint-highest for Hyderabad in FC cricket equalling MV Sridhar who also made 366 runs against Andhra during 1994. Tanmay is the first batter from India to score 300+ scored in a single day’s first-class cricket.
He also becomes the fifth player in the list of cricketers to have the highest individual Scores in the Ranji Trophy.
