Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja praises Shubman Gill and says he could be the next best batter after Virat Kohli.
Ramiz Raja Praises Shubman Gill
Without any doubt, Shubman Gill becomes one of the unavoidable players in India’s all-format games. Gill made his international appearance in 2019 and played 15 Tests, 24 ODIs and 6 T20Is so far and scored 890, 1311, and 202 runs.
These numbers include 2 Test centuries, 4 ODI centuries and 1 T20I century. It is worth mentioning, Gill also scored a double ton in the ODI format. Gill also maintains a great form in the ongoing IPL 2023. His sublime 67 off 49 balls helps Gujarat Titans’ six-wicket win over Punjab Kings on Thursday.
After seeing his knock against PBKS, Raja suggested Gill could be the likely successor to Virat Kohli.
“He (Gill) has so much potential, he has so much time. He looks so naturally beautiful when he plays. When he drives, there’s a curve on the shot. He has a lot of time to play his strokes. It doesn’t matter if he scores on the offside, on-side, hook or pulls, it’s just so beautiful and neat and clean. Many predict that he could be the next best batter after Virat Kohli,” Raja said on his YouTube channel.
Raja further suggested that Gill has the touch, class and elegance of Rohit Sharma, adding that “sky is the limit” for the youngster.
“He has touch, class, and elegance like Rohit Sharma. And his temperament is quite strong. From Tests, ODIs, and T20Is as well, he has tormented the bowlers. When you see him, it seems the time has stopped. At such a young age, he already has records. Sky is the limit for him,” he added.
Shubam Gill made his IPL debut in 2018 and played 78 matches so far. During his IPL career, Gill played 78 matches and scored 2083 runs at a strike rate of 126.55 which includes 16 half-centuries.
Gujarat Titans will face Rajasthan Royals to play the 23rd league game of the IPL 2023 on April 16 in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
