Bangladesh is scheduled to play in the 11th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 against New Zealand on October 13, 2023, at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Winning the toss, New Zealand opt to bowl. Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.
Trent Boult was impressive with his bowling attack as he dismissed Litton Das on the first ball of the innings. Lockie Ferguson dismissed Tanzid Hasan for 16 runs and Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for 30 runs. With the fall of Shanto’s wicket for 7 runs by Glenn Phillips, Bangladesh was down to four wickets scoring 56 runs on the first ball of the 13th over.
Shakib and Mushfiqur came to the rescue where they scored 40 and 66 runs respectively and were sent out by Lockie and Matt Henry. Their partnership score of 106 runs helped the side to compete back in the competition.
Towhid Hridoy was sent out with 13 runs by Boult while Mahmudullah scored 41* runs. Other batters were sent out with low figures and by the end of 50 overs, Bangladesh scored 245 runs losing nine wickets.
With a target of 246, New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra opened the innings, while Mustafizur Rahman opened the bowling attack. Rachin Ravindra was sent out with 9 runs and was sent out by Rahman on the third over of the innings.
Devon Conway had a good start as they scored 45 runs and were sent out by Shakib. Kane Williamson was impressive and scored a fifty. After Conway’s dismissal, Daryl Mitchell joined the partnership to help the side. Daryl Mitchell scored fifty on 45* runs.
The Bangladesh players had scored 972 partnership runs on 19 innings and stood second in the list of Most Partnership runs in ODI World Cups. Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden top the list with 1220 runs in 20 innings. Indian players Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar scored 971 runs in 20 innings and stands third in the list.
