Rachin Ravindra was the first Black Caps played to win the Emerging Cricketer of the Year in 2023. It was another achievement for the all-rounder as he beat Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the award.

The all-rounder made his T20I and Test debut in the year 2021 while making his maiden ODI last year. He was impressive during the ODI World Cup in India.

Rachin Ravindra completed the World Cup Campaign as the fourth-leading run-scorer of the tournament. He scored 578 runs with an average of 64.22 and a strike rate of 106.44 with three centuries and two-half centuries.

He opened the World Cup campaign with 123 runs during the match against England and scored his other two centuries against Australia and Pakistan.

He amassed a total of 911 runs and dismissed 23 batters during the year 2023. He expressed his happiness as he was recognized by the ICC for his outstanding performances last year.

He becomes the highest run scorer in a debut World Cup. “It’s obviously a very special feeling. Whenever you get recognized by the ICC for something it is always special.”

“Reflecting back it has been a pretty whirlwind last year and having the opportunity to play so much cricket in so many different environments has been very special,” Ravindra told the ICC.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav was named as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023.
