    R Gurbaz Joins the List of Youngest to 1000 ODI Runs as a Designated Wicketkeeper

    Youngest to 1000 ODI Runs as a Designated Wicketkeeper: Afghanistan wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz joins the list of Youngest to 1000 ODI Runs as a Designated Wicketkeeper.

    Gurbaz achieved this during Afghanistan’s group match against Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 on November 07.

    The 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was scheduled to be hosted by India between October 5 to November 19. It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India; three previous editions were partially hosted there – 1987, 1996, and 2011.

    As per the Afghanistan World Cup 2023 schedule, they were scheduled to face Bangladesh on October 7 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala to play their first game of the tournament.

    Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bowl first where Afghanistan’s opening duo Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 47 runs for their first wicket. Gurbaz who was near to his 3rd half-century was dismissed by Mustafizur while scoring 47 runs off 62 deliveries.

    During this process, Gurbaz created a record by joining the list of Youngest to 1000 ODI Runs as a Designated Wicketkeeper. UAE’s Vriitya Aravind was top on the list by scoring 1000 ODI runs when he was 20y, 267d. Zimbabwe’s Tatenda Taibu holds the second on the list by reaching the milestone in 21y, 198d.
