The PSL Franchise Quetta Gladiators has planned to remove Sarfaraz Ahmed from Captaincy for the upcoming PSL 2024 season.

According to the franchise’s owner Nadeem Omar, Ahmed wants a break from captaincy. Hence, the recently appointed head coach Shane Watson, and the team management will decide the new skipper to lead the side in the upcoming PSL 2024.
The 36-year-old will be playing as a regular Wicketkeeper in the squad during the tournament.
“Sarfaraz wants to take a break from captaincy, with new head coach Shane Watson set to decide who will lead the side after consulting with the team management,” said Nadeem Omar on media.
Sarfaraz has a better profile as a captain in PSL as he led Gladiators to 38 victories out of 80 matches they played. The franchise has played three finals under his leadership and clinched their first title in 2019.
The right-handed batter has amassed 1503 runs in 68 innings with a strike rate of 123.80. It includes seven half-centuries and 49 dismissals including 11 Stumpings and 38 catches.
Coming to the captaincy, the squad’s Rilee Rossouw and Saud Shakeel are the two leading contenders to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the captain.
PSL 2024 is scheduled to start on February 17 and will be played across four cities – Rawalpindi, Multan, Lahore, and Karachi.
The league will be held in two legs with the first leg hosted in Lahore and the second leg hosted in Rawalpindi. The playoffs and the final will then take place in Karachi.
Lahore Gladiators will be playing their first match of the PSL 2024 schedule against Islamabad United on February 17. Quetta Gladiators will be playing their first match against Peshawar Zalmi on February 18 at Gaddafi Stadium.
