The Pakistan Super League is set to clash with IPL dates next season as PCB has been forced to change the dates of the T20 league due to a busy international schedule.
The PCB has indicated that PSL could be held between April 10 and May 25 next year. Usually, the PSL is held in February and March every year but with a busy home schedule, they are likely to clash with the dates of IPL.
The Pakistan 2024-25 home season includes a tri-nation series between South Africa and New Zealand, followed by Champions Trophy 2025 and a tour by the West Indies. The home season begins this month and will run until April 2025.
On this occasion, PCB has announced an overhaul in the monthly retainers of the domestic players, who would be picked from the five teams for the three new events known as champions tournaments.
Around 150 players will be divided into three categories which will get salaries in different slabs.
- Category 01 – 40 players will receive PKR 550000 per month
- Category 02 – 50 players will receive PKR 400000 per month
- Category 03 – 60 players will receive PKR 250000 per month
In comparison, the 2023-24 season domestic contracts range from PKR 50,000 – 300000, depending on the category.
Additionally, Players will benefit from increased match fees as PKR 200000 will be paid for red-ball cricket, PKR 125000 for 50 over games, and PKR 100000 for T20 matches.
This will be a significant rise from the previous season’s match fees of PKR 80,000 for red-ball and PKR 40,000 for white-ball matches.
The Pakistan home schedule starts with a two-match test series against Bangladesh starting on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
