Asia Cup 2023 is set to begin on August 30, and the Indian team selectors are in serious discussion about selecting the squad for the tournament.
Probable India squad for Asia Cup 2023
BCCI has not yet confirmed the Indian squad for the big event, with some former cricketers including Ravi Shastri, MSK Prasad, and Sandip Patil having revealed their choice of players.
There was a huge expectation of the return of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer in the discussion between the experts. Jasprit Bumrah will be the part of India Squad for the Ireland T20 Series, while Iyer and Rahul are still practicing in the nets.
The trio has been sidelined for a long time, but Jasprit Bumrah’s return is more anticipated for the Asia Cup. The other players Rahul and Iyer lack of match practice was considered by the selectors.
Ravi Shastri, Prasad, and Patil picked up a 15-member squad during a discussion where they didn’t consider Rahul and Iyer.
The experts picked Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Rohit Sharma for opening options. Virat Kohli’s position on the squad has also discussed the possibility of him playing No.4 instead of his No.3 position.
The young player Tilak Varma made his heroic stance in West Indies in the T20 series a surprise while Suryakumar Yadav also made up to the 50-over format. Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur were the bowling all-rounders in the team.
For spin-bowling all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel were selected by the former Indian players. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal made the cut into the team.
Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah are the pacers picked up for the squad by former Indian stars. Prasidh Krishnan, also making a comeback to the Indian side after a long injury rest.

Asia Cup 2023
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup tournament is scheduled to play between August – September and will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. As per Asia Cup 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between Pakistan and Nepal on August 30 at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan.
The tournament will be played between the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council. The 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup winner Nepal will join India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The participating 6 teams will be categorized into 2 groups of three teams where the top 2 teams of the Asia Cup 2023 points table will advance to the super four round(of each group). The final of the tournament will be played between the top two teams of the Super 4 round.
