India opening batter Prithvi Shaw who made his debut at county cricket was sent out on Hit-wicket in the match against Gloucestershire.

Prithvi Shaw was dismissed on a hit wicket on his debut for English County team Northamptonshire.
Indian cricket team batter Prithvi Shaw made his debut for Northamptonshire in the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2023, but his innings comes to an end with a hit-Wicket. Shaw opened his batting against Gloucestershire, where he was dismissed in the 16th over.
After T20 Blast 2023, England Cricket kicks off with their domestic List A tournament. Many Indian players have participated in the English tournament in the past and Prithvi Shaw joins the list right after his debut for Northamptonshire against Gloucestershire.
Northamptonshire was batting second and set to chase a target of 279. The batter is usually known for his fluent strokeplay but this time around he attracted the spotlight for a bizarre dismissal.
The right-hand batter was sent out by Paul Van Meekeren. It was an unfortunate end to an innings too soon as he slammed two boundaries and one six.
Gloucestershire bowler Paul Van Meekeren bowled a bouncer which caught him off guard due to which he couldn’t keep his balance. The young batter ended up falling on the stumps and was sent out on hit-wicket.
Previously, Shaw said that the county stint can be very useful for him to regain his confidence. “I don’t think it will be the right time to make any adjustments to my game now,” Shaw stated.
Gloucestershire had shared a tweet on the incident and expressed their emotions on social media.

The Indian opener added 24 runs making a partnership with Lewis McManus for the Sixth wicket, attempting a recovery for his team from being five down for just 30 runs on the board
“Whatever adjustments I had to make to my game, has already been done. Once I go there and get my eyes set, I just need to play my natural game,” said Prithvi Shaw.
In the Intra-squad match, the young player and the opener scored 65 runs out of 39 deliveries, which was seen in a video shared by the county side. He had a miserable season in IPL 2023 and was dropped midway through the competition.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m really thankful to Northamptonshire for giving me this chance to express myself here,” said Shaw in media.
He’s been sidelined from the Indian cricket team for some time. Prithvi Shaw’s arrival was delayed because of visa formalities as he could not play two four-day county Championship fixtures.
