Amid criticism over his fitness and discipline, Prithvi Shaw shared a message on his Instagram story highlighting the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials’ claim about his fitness and discipline.
The MCA official revealed that the team was “forced to hide” Shaw on the field during SMAT.
Prithvi Shaw has once again taken to social media to shut repeatedly violating disciplinary and fitness issues being imposed on him after being snubbed from the Mumbai squad for Vijay Hazare 2024-25.
The opener said while reacting to the statement, “If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many have full opinions with half the facts. FRIYAY”
MCA official revealed that Shaw’s fitness issues were so significant during the SMAT 2024 that the team has been forced to hid him on the field.
“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it,” said MCA official.
He added,”Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline and attitude are poor and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players,” he claimed.
“Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now. I’ll tell you one thing. No one is Shaw’s enemy. He is his own enemy.”
Prithvi Shaw made his test debut in 2018 as an 18 year old in a home series against West Indies. His century in the format comes from the debut and since then he has appeared in just four more tests, the last three matches comes from the series against Australia four years ago.
During SMAT 2024, he scored only 197 runs in 7 games failing to meet the standards of an opener.
