The young batter Prithvi Shaw has dealt with another blow after being not included in the Mumbai Squad in Mumbai’s team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Shaw has been one of the topics after being unsold in the IPL 2025 auction despite being registered on a base price of INR 75 crore. After underperforming in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he scored only 10 in the final which Mumbai won.
In a cryptic message on Instagram, Shaw posted, “Tell me God, what more do I have to see… if 65 innings, 3999 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I’m not good enough…but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully, people believe in me still… cause I will come back for sure… OM SAI RAM (sic)…
Prithvi Shaw’s fall seemed to be irreversible, but Shreyas Iyer has backed the Mumbai batter if he get his work ethics right. Shaw gave glimpses of his immense talent in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
“I think personally he is a God gifted player. The amount of talent he possesses as an individual, no one has it. It’s just that he needs to improve his work ethics,” said Iyer.
Shaw did not find a place in the 17-member squad for the first three of the Vijay Hazare Trophy which was announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association on Tuesday.
Aggressive batter Shreyas Iyer will lead the Mumbai team. Shreyas Iyer had a remarkable 2024 as he was part of the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Irani Cup and Kolkata Knight Riders to title. However, he was released by KKR and Shreyas Iyer joined PBKS.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been also included in the Mumbai team. The selectos have also reposed faith in Suyanash Shedge, Shivam Dube, Jay Bista, Ayush Mhatre, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. All-rounder Atharva Ankolekar, Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian have been included in the Mumbai Squad.
