Prithvi Shaw had shown an impressive performance, where he made his maiden century in 81 deliveries in County cricket. He continued to bat and punishes the bowlers where he scored a double century in halftime.

He took 129 balls to complete his two hundred. The Indian batter Prithvi Shaw had silenced his critics with his astonishing batting in his third appearance for Northamptonshire. In his county debut, he was sent out on hit-wicket dismissal in the match against Gloucestershire.

Shaw smashed this score on Wednesday when he featured in a clash between Northamptonshire and Somerset at the County Ground in Northampton.

He has recorded the highest score in the competition’s history by hitting 244 runs in 153 deliveries shattering List-A records and surpassing records of the legend Sourav Ganguly.

He was dismissed just six runs ahead of 250 runs, his inning was completed with 24 boundaries and eight sixes. Shaw’s remarkable knock, Northamptonshire managed to put up a total score of 415 runs which was their second-highest score in the One-Day Cup.

“The Sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today so it was really looking good,” Shaw said.

“You know when an inside edge doesn’t get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn’t look back after that,” he said.

It was Shaw’s second double hundred in List A cricket as he went past his 227-run effort, an innings he played for Mumbai in 2020-21.

“The 227 was in my head, to be honest. I spoke to Whitey (Whiteman) when he was there and I told him it’s 227, my highest score. But it was a good team effort all around.

I always try and win matches for the team and I’m the Kind of player who puts my team first and then myself. If scoring like this can help my team to win, then I Should continue this.”

The batter becomes the second Indian after Rohit Sharma to smash two double centuries in List A cricket, and he’s only the fourth overall batter. Rohit Sharma had three double tons.

The Delhi Capitals star revealed a secret to everyone. “Everyone talks to each other. But opening up… hardly. At least, I’ve never opened up to anyone. Yes, all the mazaak-masti (fun and games) happens. But personal space used to be personal,” he said.

When asked about the person he reaches out to share his thoughts, Shaw picked his father and his coach as his go-to people.

“I keep talking to my dad. If it’s about cricket, I reach out to my coach, Prashant Shetty. I am telling you, nowadays, I have stopped sharing my thoughts with people. I keep it all within,” he revealed.
