The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the details of the T20I series for the home tour against New Zealand in April.
PCB confirms Venues for PAK vs NZ 2024 clash
Recently, the Pakistan Board officially announced hosting New Zealand in a five-match T20I series in April.
The series will be played between April 18-27 with the Blackcaps arriving in Pakistan on April 14 to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
This will be New Zealand’s third visit to Pakistan in the last 17 months. Blackcaps visited the country in December-January 2022-23 for two Tests and three ODIs and then April 2023 for a White-ball tour.
Recently, New Zealand visited Pakistan to play in the T20I series where the hosts suffered a 4-1 defeat. The first three T20Is of the current series will be played in Rawalpindi while the remaining matches will be played in Lahore.
“In a testament to the unwavering camaraderie between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket (NZC), we are delighted to present the schedule for the New Zealand men’s team tour to Pakistan 2024,” said Usman Wahla, Pakistan’s Director of International Cricket.
“This tour symbolizes the deep-rooted ties and mutual respect that define the relationship between our two cricketing nations.
“Our avid cricket fans and the people of Pakistan will welcome the New Zealand team again and we hope to have yet another competitive series which is a key part of our buildup to this year’s ICC T20 World Cup.”
This series clashes with the dates of the Indian Premier League which was also the same case last year. This means the majority of the New Zealand players will be involved in the IPL franchises for the Pakistan series.
The New Zealand specialist batter Kane Williamson is part of the Gujarat Titans while players like Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, and Devon Conway (injured) are engaged with CSK. To be noted, Devon Conway has been ruled out of IPL due to injury.
Gleen Phillips (SRH), Trent Bould (RR) and Lockie Ferguson (RCB) will be also making their appearance in the IPL.
New Zealand and Pakistan will be playing their first match of the T20I series on April 18 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
