With his impressive bowling skills, Paul van Meekeren was named as the Player of the Match during the match against Bangladesh in the World Cup 2023.

The Netherlands is scheduled to play in the 28th World Cup match against Bangladesh on October 28 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Winning the toss, the Netherlands chose to bat. Vikramjit Singh and Max Odowd opened the innings for the Netherlands while Shoriful Islam opened the bowling attack.
The openers were sent out with low figures as Max ODowd was sent out on duck by Shoriful Islam while Vikramjit was dismissed for 3 runs. Barresi scored 41 runs and helped the side to get back into competition. With the dismissal of Barresi by Mustafizur, Netherlands was down to the last seven wickets scoring 63 runs on the 14th over.
Ackermann scored 15 runs while Edwards scored 68 runs and helped the side to increase the side’s score. Bas de Leeds was sent out by Taskin Ahmed for 17 runs while Sybrand scored 35 runs and was sent out on lbw by Mahedi Hasan.
Van Beek scored 23* while other batters were sent out for low figures. Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur, and Mahedi Hasan dismissed two wickets each. By the end of 50 overs, the Netherlands scored 229 runs losing all 10 wickets.
With a target of 230, Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan opened the innings while Aryan Dutt opened the bowling attack. The openers failed to create an impression as they were sent out for 3 and 15 runs respectively. Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 35 runs and was sent out by Bas de Leede.
With the dismissal of Shanto, Shakib, and Mushifiqur for low figures by van Meekeren, Bangladesh’s middle order collapsed which led to the defeat of the side.
Mahmudullah scored 20 runs while Mahedi Hasan scored 17 runs. Paul van Meekeren dismissed four wickets while Bas de Leede scored 2 wickets. With Rahman’s 20 runs, Bangladesh scored 142 runs in the 43rd over of their innings losing all 10 wickets. Paul van Meekeren was named as the player of the match.
While speaking at the post-match conference Paul van Meekeren said, “Pretty special day. We’ve said earlier we want to go till the semis, and for that, we need to win games. Very happy with the way we bounced back against Australia. At the halfway stage, 230-240 would have been par we reckoned.”
“Aryan Dutt and van Beek kept things tight in the powerplay. We’ve been working on our fielding, every training session we do 20 minutes of fielding drills. It was an all-round performance, pretty tough to pick a Man of the Match.”
“Scott Edwards and Sybrand Engelbrecht got a bit of momentum for us by building that partnership. Pure team performance tonight,” he concluded.
The Netherlands will be playing their next World Cup match against Afghanistan on November 03 at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow.
