Her decision came from a desire to lead her life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Ayesha has already informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about her retirement.
Despite her flourishing career, Ayesha Naseem decided to prioritize her spiritual journey and live her life in accordance with the principles of Islam. This deeply personal decision reflects her commitment to her faith and values, leading her to bid farewell to the sport she loved dearly.
“I’m leaving cricket and want to live my life according to Islam,” Naseem told PCB.
At the tender age of 15, Ayesha Naseem was selected for Pakistan’s squad in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, showcasing her immense potential from the outset. Over the years, she continued to impress with her performances, solidifying her position as a key player in the team.
Ayesha made her international debut for Pakistan in March 2020, representing the country in four women’s ODIs and four women’s T20Is. Throughout her international career, she scored a total of 402 runs.
Her fame skyrocketed in January 2023 when she scored a quickfire cameo against Australia. During that match, she scored 24 runs off just 20 balls, including three sixes and a four.
Even former Pakistan captain, Wasim Akram, praised her performance against Australia, referring to her as a “serious talent” in one of his tweets.
