India will be playing their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The 18-member squad led by Babar Azam arrived in Multan on August 27.

Shakeel wasn’t part of the initial team and was the 18th member of the ODI squad for the Afghanistan bilateral series, where Tahir was initially placed in the squad. But with the PCB updates on the squad, Tahir will travel with the team during the Asia Cup as a reserve player.

The tournament will be played between the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council. The 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup winner Nepal will join India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
