    Pakistan pacers secured historic series win after 22 years

    After losing the first game, Pakistan bounced back in the remaining two ODI matches and secured a historic series win against Australia with the guidance of their aggressive pace attack.

    Pakistan cricket team were scheduled to tour Australia to play a limited-over series in November 2024. During the Pakistan tour of Australia 2024, three ODIs and three T20Is were scheduled to play between November 4 and 18.

    Pakistan faced a slump in the ODI series after losing the first game in Melbourne. But the Pakistan cricket team turned things down in the second game and won the match by nine wickets and went on to win the third and last game by eight wickets.

    Pacers played a crucial role in Pakistan’s back-to-back victories which snatched them the series victory in the three-match ODI series.

    Pakistan’s ODI series victory in 2024 will mark their first series victory since 2002. Pakistan have beaten Australia in Australia after a span of 22 years (in bilaterals).

    Apart from exhibiting impressive bowling performances, Pakistan openers also played a key role in the team’s historic victory.

    Speaking of the 3rd ODI match in Perth, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk opened the inning on behalf of Australia. As of the last game, Australia made a dreadful start and struggled to face Pakistan bowlers.

    Naseem Shah drew the first blood for Australia by dismissing McGurk for 7 runs. Following his dismissal, Shaheen Afridi’s pace attack dismissed Aaron Hardie for 12 runs. Following a couple of quick wickets, Australia struggled to build a partnership and started to lose wickets at a regular interval.

    Abbott’s 30 runs off 41 deliveries is the highest individual score for the Australian cricket team in the third ODI match. With Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah’s triple wicket hauls, Pakistan contained Australia for 140 runs by dismissing all ten players.

    While chasing, Pakistan made a steady start, with the openers making 84 runs for the first wicket. Pakistan chased the target in 26.5 overs, losing a couple of wickets, and won the match by eight wickets. With the victory in the third ODI game, Pakistan won the three-match ODI series by 1-2.

    After snatching the ODI series trophy, Pakistan will meet Australia to play the first T20I of the series on November 14 in The Gabba, Brisbane.
