As the ICC World Cup 2023 schedules and Venues are announced last Tuesday, Pakistan delegates are set to visit India to inspect Venues for giving clearance for the national team to make a move for this year’s ICC world cup.
Pakistan Delegates to visit India for National Team’s Security Clearance
Pakistan is about to send a security delegation to India for inspecting the World Cup venues of the ICC World Cup. An Official source has confirmed that the government including foreign ministers would decide to send the security delegates to India.
The new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board elected after the Eid Holidays says, “The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup.”
The Delegates would visit Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad venues which will be the place where the India-Pakistan match takes place on October 15. The confirmation of Participation of the Pakistan team will be confirmed only after the security clearance of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Pakistan Cricket Board Statement over Security Clearance
“The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans, and media, who will go for the tournament.”
The chairman of PCB Ahmad Shahzad Farooq added, “The PCB will share the report with the ICC and BCCI if the delegation has any concerns.”
“It was on the recommendation of the delegation that Pakistan’s match at Dharamsala against India was moved to Kolkata.”
“This is not unusual and it is standard procedure for all tours to India. Even in other sports, the respective national federations have to get clearance from the government to send their teams to India for any competition.”
Currently Pakistan Hockey Federation is waiting for clearance to send its team for the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai in August. Even the football team also played the SAFF championship in Banglore after getting NOC at the last moment from the government.
ICC has announced the fixtures for the World Cup tournament and rejected PCB’s request to rearrange the schedule in the matches played at Chennai and Banglore for some teams.
They do not want to play against Afghanistan in Chennai as it is a spin-friendly track and wants to avoid facing Australia at Banglore Stadium.
