Paarl Royals who qualified for the playoffs last season have retained a total of ten players ahead of the SA20 2025 auction.
The third edition of the SA20 league is scheduled to be played between 9 January 2025 and 8 February 2025. As of last season, an auction will be staged for the teams to form their squad for the SA20 2025 tournament.
Though the exact date for the SA20 2025 auction was not revealed officially the teams have started to announce their retained and released players list. With an IPL mega auction planned around the corner of the year, Cricket South Africa is expected to host the SA20 2025 auction at the earliest possible date.
Paarl Royals who qualified for the playoffs last season but were knocked out of the tournament after losing the Eliminator game against Joburg Super Kings retained ten players ahead of the SA20 2025 auction.
The retention includes David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Bjorn Fortuin and many others. Paarl Royals’ director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara expressed confidence in the core set of South African players in an official release. He said:
“We are delighted to go into the upcoming auction with a very formidable core of capped and uncapped South African players. After the disappointment of last season where we faltered towards the latter stages of the tournament, it was important to re-look at the squad and make certain changes.”
The franchise has released Dane Vilas, Evan Jones, Wihan Lubbe, and Ferisco Adams, while Dayyaan Galiem was traded in from the Joburg Super Kings.
Paarl Royals retained players: David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Bjorn Fortuin, Andile Phehlukwayo, Mitchell van Buuren, Codi Yusuf, Keith Dudgeon, Nqaba Peter, Kwena Maphaka, Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
